Grounding Massage Oil

The Cosmic Cookie Trail led me to this recipe for making a Grounding Massage Oil.  I may play around with it to make it with herbs instead of essential oils.  A project for another day!

Mabon Correspondances

mabon-plate

The plate I painted for Mabon.

This is a recipe for Mabon Anointing Oil that I made a few years ago (I reference the Super Moon). I don’t recall where I found the ritual itself.  If you know please let me know so I may credit them properly.

Mabon Anointing Oil

I used Reiki on all ingredients before I started each step.

During the Super Moon in August, I put three small Tiger Eye stones in a crystal grid surrounded by 6 Carnelian stones with an Agate in the middle.  Tigers Eye to be used in bottle of oil for Mabon.

I mixed up a sacred smudging blend of sweetgrass braid, tobacco, juniper, and sage.  I put the blend in the sea shell that looks like the spiral of life.

Right before I started to blend the oil, I said the Full Moon ritual.

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on fire to set the mood

The perfect style and attitude

To serve my purpose and meet my goal

And cast me in the perfect role

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on air to set the pace

All obstacles shall it erase

Wafting in the perfect breeze

So I might play my role with ease

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on earth to set the scene

And ground me so I stay serene

No matter what might come my way

Supporting me through night and day

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on water to set me free

To be the best, most perfect me

Smoothly flowing through the hour

All aspects of my self empower

On this night of the Full Moon

For confidence and lack of stress

On this occasion let me shine

And touch me with a gift divine

So mote it be

Mabon Oil

Drop the three Tiger Eye stones in the bottle.

1 drop of Palo Santo-Top to middle

5 drops Black Spruce-Middle

1 drop Cajeput-Top

1 drop Mandarin-Top

2 drops Myrrh-Base

1 ½ t Grapeseed oil

The intention set was to allow the abundance of the season to flow and to feel the Love of the season.

Witch at the Cross Roads

Recently embarking on our next adept lesson, Lady Beltane has prompted us to explore our path of the craft. Looking at the various traditions enables one to delve into the inner depths of ones soul to find their identity, their belonging, their longing, their entire being.

So where do you start? This is no easy task, as the modern world of magick and religion is not as clean and dry as in ancient times. Modern and ancient systems meld into one another and often sprouting new system. It is the ebb and flow of people’s beliefs that are carried on, inherited, created to suit a particular audience that I’m sure is nothing new.

My research on this topic has been of interest for a while, recently writing an article on CL about the Witch the Shaman and the Healer so this only re-ignited my inquisitive nature on distinguishing all three as one and the same. Different corners of the world practice in their own way, their own rituals, and their own traditions that have weaved their way through their ancestral roots and in the end it is all the same. What do I mean? Well any one you ask who is involved in any type of belief system will always worship, draw their energies, give themselves to a superior being, a superior energy whether it’s Pachamama, Gaia, God, Goddess, Theo, Allah, call it what you may. Both modern and ancient science is and has been in awe with all that energy.

“The scientist’s religious feeling takes the form of a rapturous amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is utterly insignificant reflection. This feeling is the guiding principle of his life and work, in so far as he succeeds in keeping himself from the shackles of selfish desire. It is beyond question closely akin to that which has possessed the religious geniuses of all ages.”

Today the modern Witch, Healer or Shaman has the more accessible luxury to travel the world more readily to discover, to explore and to embrace spirituality. Most people also have the freedom, some less than others, but none the less we are a society with a greater religious choice more or less. There is contemporary thought, ancient traditional process and the fusion of practices that make the modern witch. We all want to believe, to hold, and to be connected to some ancient ancestry or practice of inherited tradition, but the reality is that we live in a modern world. We can preserve these ancient practices and carry them through into our time, just like they have done from one generation to the next, this is how we keep them alive.

The article below (The Witches, healers and Spell caters of Poland) is an amazing explanation of the various belief system throughout not only Poland that have held true to their traditions but all around the world. They have been incorporated, morphed, melted into one, and divided into others to develop their own way of healing. Yes the end result is healing, yourself, others and the earth. Looking at people that are engaged in the green peace movements, they are effectively worshiping Mother Nature, and they are hearing the call of Gaia. There is entire movements called the Gaia movement where in effect they are worshiping the Goddess in all her glory by actively participating in preserving her.

So after reading all that, where and how do you choose? This is something that comes from your absolute heart space, do what feels right for you. If you have been drawn to the arts like many before you and many after, you clearly have a calling. Spend time to really get to know yourself and your cause in life. Experiment with life, be daring with spirituality and most of all believe. Believe in yourself and everything that you stand for. This is one of the reasons that I was drawn to the Cl website because it offered a freedom of alternative belief systems. There are solitary Witches and ones that belong to covens. There are elemental Witches, Hedge Witches, Wild Craft Witches, Shamanic Witches, and the list goes on. There are Neopagan traditions of Wicca that include, Gardnerian  and Alexandrian, etc, that have similar elements to the Qabalah, the very structure that resonates with the ancient Greek, Egyptian and Vedic religions. All hailing the same energy that comes in different aspects of the one infinite representation that is the God and the Goddess as one.

And remember-

“Don’t expect everyone to understand your journey, especially if they’ve never had to walk your path.”

Many blessing

And never stop believing

Hypatia of Alexandrea.
