W.Q.W. – My Own Recipe for Step By Step Health Elixir – Cough Syrup By The Silver Sage Witch

Merry Meet, my Silver Sage Family!
You’ll never guess what happened, so I’m gonna tell ya! Well, ya see, it was almost morning and the blue, gray light which was tinted with a tiny bit of honey-colored sunshine was beginning to peek through the big picture window in ma bedroom. It was so quiet that I could slightly hear the little birdies outside, taking their morning birdie baths in the pans of water that we’ve provided for them…along with a delicious birdie buffet chock full of an astounding array of oats, wholewheat bread, and a plentitude of different nuts and seeds. Suddenly, my phone rang, “Emergency emergency, pick up now,” it blasted out to me!

Shaken from the happy visions of birdies bathing, I quickly answered the phone. “I’m sick, can you help me please,” came from the other end of the phone. My patient told me what was wrong and then hung up. Dashing out of bed, I ran to my laboratory and grabbed my special Health Elixir that I always keep bottled for such emergencies and tied it to my pet Dragon, Drakkos’ leg. He looked at me and blinked as he asked sleepily, “Where’s the emergency this time,” and then after getting his instructions, flew off on his mission 😉

In today’s episode of W.Q.W., we’re gonna be checking out my recipe for how to make (step by step), my Health Elixir – Cough Syrup! Ok, ok, so I did get a bit wild and crazy, but hey, laughter is most excellent for the soul! Be sure to watch till the end and have the best laugh you’ve had all week.

One of the Histories of a Witch’s Familiar

If an illustration of a dubious event counts as fiction, then this late 1500s sketch could be the first reference to familiars:

BZyEI

The author is unknown, but there is a description here:

An image of a witch and her familiar spirits taken from a publication that dealt with the witch trials of Elizabeth Stile, Mother Dutten, Mother Devell and Mother Margaret in Windsor, 1579.

Whether the term “familiar” would have been used by the author at the time is unclear. However, the sketch was made some time after 1579 and in 1584 we find what is likely the first appearance of the term “familiars” in this context within the English corpus. This appears in the book Scot’s Discovery of Witchcraft, edited by Reginald Scot. (This could be earlier than Malleus Maleficarum.)

The term appears in the very long subtitle of the book:

Proving the Common Opinions of Witches Contracting with Divels, Spirits, Or Familiars, and Their Power to Kill, Torment, and Consume the Bodies of Men, Women, and Children, Or Other Creatures by Diseases Or Otherwise, Their Flying in the Air…

BASE CHAKRA – A CONNECTOR TO THE PHYSICAL

The base chakra is the first of the seven main chakras that are of a physical nature.

This chakra can go by several different names:

  • Base Chakra
  • Root Chakra
  • Earth Chakra
  • Foundation Chakra
  • Muladhara (Sanscrit word meaning – root or support)

This ‘red’ chakra is found at the base of the spine, the perineum.

The base chakra is often dismissed by individuals studying the chakras, as many are drawn to the mysteries of the spiritual chakras.  However, the base chakra is by far the most important chakra.  Everything starts here.

The Etymology of the Word Pagan

The term pagan is used, today, to signify people who do not believe in the monotheistic god of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It is used much like “heathen.” It also refers to pantheists and neo-pagans.

Origins of the Word Pagan

Pagan comes from a Latin word paganus, meaning villager, rustic, civilian, and itself comes from a pāgus which refers to a small unit of land in a rural district. It was a demeaning Latin term (like the word hick), that originally lacked a religious significance.

Etymology Online
says pagan comes from a PIE base *pag- ‘to fix’ and related to the word “pact”. It adds that the usage to refer to nature worshipers and pantheists dates from 1908.

Blessed Be Used in Some Initations

Blessed Be

“Blessed be” is a traditional salutation in many contemporary magical traditions. Use of the phrase indicates that you wish good things upon the one to whom you are speaking. The phrase appears in some Pagan paths, but it’s most likely to be used in a Neo-Wiccan context.

The phrase is part of a longer ritual, which is included in some initiation ceremonies. During that particular rite, the High Priestess or High Priest delivers what is known as the Five Fold Kiss, and recites:

Blessed be thy feet,

which have brought thee in these ways,

Blessed be thy knees,

that shall kneel at the sacred altar,

Blessed be thy womb,

without which we would not be,

Blessed be thy breasts,

formed in beauty,

Blessed be thy lips,

that shall utter the Sacred Names of the gods.

The Wiccan Three-Fold Law

“Ever mind the rule of three,
What ye send out comes back to thee.”

The Three-Fold Law is not only a Wiccan law. And it’s not dependent on an All-Knowing God watching and meting out punishment.Far worse than that! It is one of the essential threads of the universe … the very fabric of which life is made.So no matter what you do, you can’t sidestep it.Best to really understand it, then, so you can use it to your advantage and get the Universe working for you. After all, don’t you want to be on the Divine’s good side? Be aware of the Three-Fold Law and you can get — and keep — the Universe on your team!

Religious Rule or Universal Law?

The Three-Fold Law is one of the basics of Wiccan belief.Despite the name, the Three-Fold Law isn’t a Wiccan law, exactly, but rather a universal spiritual principle. We call it a law, I think, because in our respect-deficient culture we associate laws with punishment, and ….

How to Perform a Blessing Ceremony for Any Woman’s 6 Most Important Rites of Passages

Before sharing this article with you I thought it would be nice to share my Croning  Ritualor to some because it was when I turn 50 years old it might be a Wise Woman Ritual. Which ever way you want to think of it be my guest, to me it was a Croning.

My eldest daughter lived in a rural area of Indiana at the time and had a beautiful yard filled with many types of flowers, flowering plants, green plants, bird feeders, etc besides her son’s little pool, swing set/jungle gym and sandbox. So a cool mixture of both generations. As my birthday is on Beltane we had planned on doing a simple ritual that afternoon with planting a few flowers and explaining to her boys what Beltane was all about. We did this and it was great fun. Then in the evening my daughter and I had picked out a special plant for my Croning ritual. I did not jump a broom as many pagans do to mark going from one stage of life into another, instead together we planted the ? plant (sorry I do not remember the name of it) just outside her kitchen window in an area set aside with a small manmade pond, bird feeders, and other plants and flowers. As we planted our plant I told her stories of my childhood through her birth. After we had tapped down the last bit of soil around the plant she presented me with a smooth flattish stone that was egg shaped and told me it was for all my eggs that had been born and for those that now were forever silent as I entered into my life as not only a mother with all grown children but as a grandmother to help raise the next generation.

When my own mother crossed into the Summerlands almost two years ago, this same daughter came up to me at the cemetery and handed me 13 small stones. She said the represented my legacy of children and grandchildren and to remember to keep them close as I was now the matriarch of our family. I think that brought as many tears to my eyes as the crossing of my mom did. I have the stones put away in a special pouch but take them out to look at when I feel the need to. Although my Croning ritual and becoming family matriarch were seven years apart, I do not think I would have handled my mom’s crossing at all if I had not already taken my place as an elder and crone in our family.

Remember the ideas in the following article are suggestions for Blessingways. If you feel called to do a Blessingway differently then follow your heart and spirit as there is no wrong way to welcome in another phase of your life or someone else’s.

Now for the article…..

As I prepare to give birth to my second daughter, I am more conscious than ever about the importance of the six main rites of passages that women go through.

I want both of my daughters to love being a girl and celebrate becoming a woman. I want them to know in every cell of their bodies that it is an honor to be born a female. To not think of their period as dirty and gross, to not think that giving birth is a horrible thing, to not think that their lives are over with once they stop bleeding.

I want every little girl to grow up proud of her changing body and honoring the transitions she goes through throughout her life. To see each change as a rebirth process, accepting that death is a part of life and only helps us to find more meaning in our lives.

And I believe that the way to create this new culture of celebrating what it means to be a woman is through Blessing Ceremonies, also know as Blessingways, to honor a rite of passage.

A WITCHES MANIFESTO

Adapted from The Wiccan Bardo by Paul Beyerl)

I DEMAND THESE THINGS OF MYSELF AS A WITCH:

I must pursue my highest ideals

I must aspire to the highest of ethics

I must demand integrity of myself

I must always keep my word

I must cultivate self-discipline

I must LIVE the Hermetic Principle

I must seriously contemplate the ramifications of Reincarnation & Karma

I must respect the astral realms

I must approach ritual with reverence and care

I must respect ritual work as an act of love and beauty.

I must take sole responsibility for all the events and circumstances in my life, in the knowledge that I have created them all for my own development.

I must strive to cultivate a sense of humour and of humility.

I must avoid all negativity, firstly in my thinking and as a consequence, in my life.

I must live in harmony with the Earth Goddess – Gaia.

I must cultivate a global perspective.

I must serve my community, both locally and globally, being of help to all people.

I must be willing to defend my religion.

I must provide for the safe future of my ritual tools, should I be taken by death
