W.Q.W. – My Own Recipe for Step By Step Health Elixir – Cough Syrup By The Silver Sage Witch

Merry Meet, my Silver Sage Family!
You’ll never guess what happened, so I’m gonna tell ya! Well, ya see, it was almost morning and the blue, gray light which was tinted with a tiny bit of honey-colored sunshine was beginning to peek through the big picture window in ma bedroom. It was so quiet that I could slightly hear the little birdies outside, taking their morning birdie baths in the pans of water that we’ve provided for them…along with a delicious birdie buffet chock full of an astounding array of oats, wholewheat bread, and a plentitude of different nuts and seeds. Suddenly, my phone rang, “Emergency emergency, pick up now,” it blasted out to me!

Shaken from the happy visions of birdies bathing, I quickly answered the phone. “I’m sick, can you help me please,” came from the other end of the phone. My patient told me what was wrong and then hung up. Dashing out of bed, I ran to my laboratory and grabbed my special Health Elixir that I always keep bottled for such emergencies and tied it to my pet Dragon, Drakkos’ leg. He looked at me and blinked as he asked sleepily, “Where’s the emergency this time,” and then after getting his instructions, flew off on his mission 😉

In today’s episode of W.Q.W., we’re gonna be checking out my recipe for how to make (step by step), my Health Elixir – Cough Syrup! Ok, ok, so I did get a bit wild and crazy, but hey, laughter is most excellent for the soul! Be sure to watch till the end and have the best laugh you’ve had all week.

The need for More Than One Candle Holder and Why You Need Different Sizes

A little know fact about the misuse of the name candle holders. My mother was an avid collector of “candle holders” and did some reserched about them. Come to find out through her research that they proper name for them is “candle sticks” not “candle holders.”

If you would link to read a little history about this definition for candlesticks please click on this link: Candlestick

As Witches/Pagans, we use candles for a large variety of things. From holding our person candle and the element of Fire’s candle to those used for a specific purpose in a spell and/or ritual. We also use different sizes depending on how long we want or need the candle to burn for the spell thus the need for multiple candlesticks in different sizes.

You should have at least 2 candlesticks that a taper candle will fit into. 1-7 candlesticks for chime size candles. 1-2 for tea light or votive candles. Again I send you to look at garage or yard sales and thrift shops if you are like me and cannot afford to spend a lot on all the different holders.

I know this sales person personally and but all my essential oils from her. The smell of them is delicious, sorry I can not think of a better word. Becca spent days researching and mixing up with a headache and tense muscle reliever for me because I am allergic to Lavender which is typically used in the making of both of these items. They both work great. I have also bought the pure essential oil this company offers in all my years of buying essential oils for rituals, spellwork, and homeopathic medicines these are the best I have found.

Dangerous Herbs

Toxic and Poisonous Herbs

If you’re using herbs in your magical practice, as many of us do, it’s important to keep in mind that they may not all be safe to handle or ingest. Many herbs are fine for people, but toxic to household pets. Still other herbs can be used by anyone but pregnant women. Let’s look at some of the different herbs you may be using in magical practice, and how they can be dangerous if you’re not careful.

Do keep in mind that this is not – and is not intended to be – a list of every toxic or harmful herb. It is a list of some commonly used herbs that can be dangerous to pregnant women or household pets. If you’re using a particular plant and you’re not sure if it’s toxic or not, then do your homework and make sure it’s safe to use before you do anything with it.

HERBS DANGEROUS TO PREGNANT WOMEN

If you’re pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, or nursing, you’ll need to exercise extra caution when working with herbs. Many can cause miscarriage if ingested. Before taking any herbs internally – or, for that matter, handling them with bare hands – be sure to check with your healthcare professional to make sure they’re safe.

The following are just a few of the many herbs out there that can be harmful to pregnant women.

Magical Aromatherapy

Ask any Pagan or Wiccan what they love most about working with herbs, and chances are good they’ll tell you how much they love the smell. Herbs contain small glands that hold their essential oils, and when these oils are extracted they release scent molecules. The science of aromatherapy takes advantage of this natural phenomenon and expands it just a bit — because olfactory sensation stimulates parts of the brain connected to memory and emotion.

ROMATHERAPY HISTORY

Although aromatherapy is a fairly new practice in the United States, herbal essential oils have been used for thousands of years in other parts of the world. The Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese have all used essential oils in cosmetics, for ritual oils, and even in cosmetics.

In the modern era, lavender oil and its healing properties was one of the first essential oils to be looked at from a medical perspective. A French chemist named René-Maurice Gattefossé experienced an explosion in his laboratory, during which he sustained a burn to the skin of his hand. He applied lavender oil, and discovered that its healing properties could be used in a number of ways; specifically, he studied its efficacy on war wounds such as gangrene and chemical burns.

It should be noted that not everyone sees aromatherapy as a true scientific discipline; many believe there is simply a placebo effect.

A 2008 study done at The Ohio State University found that “an investigation on how aromatherapy affects health failed to show any improvement in immune status, wound healing, or pain control among people exposed to two scents. But results of the randomized controlled trial… did show that lemon (considered to be a stimulant) appeared to enhance mood, while lavender (thought to be a relaxant) had no effect on mood.”

Full Moon Oil

The other day I made up a list of all the items I would like to make today during the Super Full Moon.  Here is one I would like to share:

FULL MOON OIL

13 drops of sandalwood essential oil
9 drops of vanilla essential oil or extract
3 drops of jasmine essential oil
1 drop of rose essential oil

Mix prior to a full moon. Charge in a clear container or vial in the light of the full moon. Use to anoint candles or yourself for full moon rituals or just when you feel like you need the moons energy.

Mabon Correspondances

mabon-plate

The plate I painted for Mabon.

This is a recipe for Mabon Anointing Oil that I made a few years ago (I reference the Super Moon). I don’t recall where I found the ritual itself.  If you know please let me know so I may credit them properly.

Mabon Anointing Oil

I used Reiki on all ingredients before I started each step.

During the Super Moon in August, I put three small Tiger Eye stones in a crystal grid surrounded by 6 Carnelian stones with an Agate in the middle.  Tigers Eye to be used in bottle of oil for Mabon.

I mixed up a sacred smudging blend of sweetgrass braid, tobacco, juniper, and sage.  I put the blend in the sea shell that looks like the spiral of life.

Right before I started to blend the oil, I said the Full Moon ritual.

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on fire to set the mood

The perfect style and attitude

To serve my purpose and meet my goal

And cast me in the perfect role

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on air to set the pace

All obstacles shall it erase

Wafting in the perfect breeze

So I might play my role with ease

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on earth to set the scene

And ground me so I stay serene

No matter what might come my way

Supporting me through night and day

On this night of the Full Moon

I call on water to set me free

To be the best, most perfect me

Smoothly flowing through the hour

All aspects of my self empower

On this night of the Full Moon

For confidence and lack of stress

On this occasion let me shine

And touch me with a gift divine

So mote it be

Mabon Oil

Drop the three Tiger Eye stones in the bottle.

1 drop of Palo Santo-Top to middle

5 drops Black Spruce-Middle

1 drop Cajeput-Top

1 drop Mandarin-Top

2 drops Myrrh-Base

1 ½ t Grapeseed oil

The intention set was to allow the abundance of the season to flow and to feel the Love of the season.
